Flexibility of the Team Balance rule, where players could be used out of position if all players that qualify for the position are either Injured, Suspended or Not AFL selected.

If we allow this, we'd be going backwards.
Remember the angst we put John through in the Grand Final of 2018. There was heavy discussion about his team.
So at the end of 2018, it was discussed and voted on that we were to concentrate on TEAM BALANCE.
We've had TEAM BALANCE for a minimum of 3 years now.
We have moved on from the above.


The reason coaches would find themselves in the above position is because of 2 reasons:
1) BAD LUCK
Our weekly team selection is based on AFL injuries, suspensions, managed players, non-selected players. We have no control of this.
2) LAZY LIST MANAGEMENT
We've had TEAM BALANCE a minimum of 3 years. We've had time to adjust our lists accordingly. We call ourselves coaches, but we are not coaches, we are list Managers. You need to recruit based on current TEAM BALANCE rules. If you find your self in the above position don't blame TEAM BALANCE, blame your own list management.


Look at List managers, Tom, Ian, Aaron, just to name a few. They have recruited by trading or drafting based on TEAM BALANCE. If we allow the above flexibility of the Team Balance rule, it makes a mockery of the way these List Managers have recruited. They have recruited based on the TEAM BALANCE that is in place at the moment.

If we go back to this flexibility, we might as well throw all the players in a large pot and start again.




Bye Rounds
They're here to stay.
Yes they are a pain.
But we do have 50 players on our lists and only 15 player scores are counted.
Again it comes down to List Management.
If you do some level of research, your list should be balanced enough to cover the minimum of 15 players.

I think the overlapping of rounds for byes could be a nightmare, picking players over a week before they play. However,if voted on we could give it a go.
