How are they both flawed? looks like you're keen on option 1... which means, if the coach doesn't have the depth then they get the "0".

As mentioned in above post, a "0" is not a penalty.. unless you have 5 x "0" where you then end up with 1 less score in the total. This would be unlikely, I'm sure of it... however, Option 1 means by 1 coach lacking depth, another gets a slight advantage because they have 22 scores for best 18 vs 21 scores for best 18 - odds are a little better
