Hi Toms, I agree girdle dependency has genuine requirements.
I destroyed my upper back with 3 fractured vertebra in a High Diving accident and I absolutely need a long line Bra or All-in-one body shaper. I fell off a ladder re-roofing a 2 story house and had numerous surgeries and pins installed to put me back together. Went thru 8 weeks of minimally effective rehab. This was way long past my girlfriend challenging me to wear a girdle all day.
I absolutely need compression support, BUT, I chose shapewear to assist me in recovery other than the $4000
non-insured 'splint' to get me back in shape or the fusing of vertebrae to make me stand straight again. I did not relish the insertion of Rods into my spine. I have a congenital hip that has no 'ball' on the femur and grinds my leg into a frozen state that locks my leg so I cannot walk. But Still, I use a glorious girdle to help overcome these problems because the medical community is overly eager to do surgery instead of recognizing that a girdle can be the alternative to surgery. For me, I enjoy the girdle experience because it provide a mountain of relief even though I love wearing a girdle without an excuse. I do agree that many of us just enjoy the satisfaction of wearing a girdle, all-in-one, or long line bra. In addition, shapewear has tremendous benefits to keeping us in good form. So actually, we do not disagree, we agree by all means, but also accept that others love shapewear without a medically induced excuse.
For ME, I was addicted to shapewear long before my accidents and adore the luxury of shapewear no matter the excuse. I think that everyone that loves shapewear should enjoy it simply because it is the most wonderful feeling ever!

As a side note, If you worked at Motorola in Ft. L Fla. back in 1973-74, we have met and have had mutual girdle experiences.

So good to have everyone contributing about loving the girdle experience no matter what the reason!
