Subject: ANTSO NATIONALS

I have competed with ANTSO for two years in a row, going to nationals with a title both years. I have also been back to nationals with a girl I coach, that would be three years at nationals. I have had the most unforgettable, amazing, growing times not only with this system, but also the irreplaceable staff.

I have been competing in pageantry since I was a year old, that totals up to 21 years competing in various systems all over the states. I have never found such a pure and very unique pageant like ANTSO, ever before. I have competed with Nam, Coed, DGUSA, and more, but nothing, i mean NOTHING has topped my experience with this system.

It is run by a not only stunning, but amazing and smart director, Jenny Telwar. She welcomed me into the ANTSO family with such a big heart and smile, I had never been so thrilled to hold a title before, she made me truly feel like a queen. So many systems have fun directors, but you only see them when you are crowned and when you pass your crown on, that isn't a family, it isn't anything but a business to them. At ANTSO it is a family, I still keep in touch with Jenny, our motivational speaker Dale Smith Thomas (who has impacted my life in such a positive way, and I am a better person because of her), our choreographers (who are not only fabulous but know how to make a show absolutely fierce and fun for the girls and the audience), and my pageant sisters!

I have formed bonds and friendships with girls in ANTSO, more than any other system. ANTSO should pride themselves on their gorgeous, hard working and real girls who not only are involved in their community and schools, but strive to bring out the best in everyone around them. ANTSO continues to crown the best of the best at states, and the one who really stands out and can handle that bigger sparkly hat at nationals :]

People, mothers especially, really get worked up about the pageants and the outcome with their girls. Let me please say something, not only as a pageant girl for over 20 years, but a pageant coach of 3 years...

Mothers.

Your girls are beautiful, and competing at state against a great group, if they win, they will have the time of their life, but you have to help make their title fun, not pressure them into worrying about the next step, nationals.

If your girls aren't crowned at state, don't give up, every girl is crowned for a reason, and with different judges, on a different day, there would be a completely different outcome. But for that competition, the cards and crown fall where they are meant to, please understand that.

If your daughter doesn't walk away from state with the title, still be proud of her and cheer her on till the next competition. Many of you as mothers truly do not understand how nerve wrecking and hard it can be to be up on that stage, speak clearly, stand straight and look stunning all at once. Give your daughters a hug, and a smile no matter what they place, as soon as they step off that stage.

At nationals, every girl is walking away with a crown, so if your daughter doesn't win a national title, like I've said, there's a reason for it. She is competing against the best of the best, and at ANTSO it is tough, she should wear her state crown and sash with pride and know even after nationals she has so much to go home and do :]

ANTSO realizes and informs their judges at nationals, that the national title is VERY VERY big, and has A LOT of responsibility! During the week the staff sees the monthers with the girls, throughout the hotels, the events and backstage. Mothers, please do not think YOU are not being watched, listened to, and 'judged' also. The staff knows they need a strong girl to hold the prestigious national title, but they also MUST have a strong family behind her. The girls who win nationals have a PACKED year full of appearances, traveling and fun! But with all of that comes hard work, help constantly from the family, support support support and open arms for the girls to fall into after a long day and a smile saying I'm proud. If the staff sees you yelling or being pushy with your daughter, making threats, pushing her into tears because the pressure you have put on her, or just an overall sense of negativity, please know, that if your daughter isn't crowned you may have been a reason. ANTSO is family oriented and wants the best for the girls, and wants to keep their reputation high and their positive energy going all year long.

ANTSO Nationals is tough, and yet unforgettable. I would go back year after year if I could. ANTSO provides you with an incredible staff, opportunities you won't find anywhere else, and the passion that has depleted in todays pageant systems. ANTSO truly is ONE OF A KIND, you can ask any queen and i promise you will hear positive feedback. The only bad things you will hear are girls who don't understand why some other girl won, or why they didn't place higher, and those girls just haven't got the grasp of a real pageant system yet, YOU CANT ALWAYS WIN OR PLACE TOP 5, if you did how would that even be fun or challenging for the girl or the winners?

I know this has been long winded but I am very passionate about this system and its staff. I have won state twice, been to nationals competing twice and once coaching. While competing at nationals both times, I had the time of my life, but never placed top 5, and i still loved every moment and wouldn't take it back. If you are in ANTSO for the crown, they money, the prizes, the fame, you should probably walk away now. ANTSO is for girls who truly want to be their best, and know that just because they don't walk away from nationals with the national title, they are still walking away with their states. They understand they still have a responsibility to uphold when they return home, and they have stories and friends that will last a lifetime from nationals. No true ANTSO girl walks away bitter about not placing, they walk away positive with grace and a smile that could blind the world and a drive to better themselves and their community.

I want to end on a note i think everyone, moms and daughters alike should remember & share. (I write this on the mirrors and put little notes in the hotel room for the girls I coach)

You are only competing with YOURSELF. Go into competition and try to beat your biggest opponent, YOURSELF, your past scores. If you come out on top and are better then before, then you have truly won :] And if you happen to walk away with that bigger sparkly hat then that's just the icing on top :]

I hope this all helps :]

ANTSO I am forever grateful for everything you have done for me and the support you continue to give :]
