Subject: Penicillin Author: Tiffany [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] Date Posted: Friday, November 30, 2012, 05:16: pm I am 20 and I had to get a bicillin shot this morning and I can hardly sit right now. I was told I had bronchitis and I am a sophmore in college with finals starting next week. My boyfriend went with me to see the doctor. He gave me a zithromax dose pack and told me to take them as directed. He said it would take a few days to get it started. I told him I hoped so as I had finals coming up. He said we can jump start it by giving me an injection of penicillin. I agreed to take the injection. The nurse came in and told me I needed to unfasten my jeans and lie on the bed. I looked at the syringe with this long blue cap and told my boyfriend he could stay and hold my hand. The male nurse pulled down my jeans and pulled down my panties. My boyfriend was looking at my bare butt and I was a little embarrased at first then I felt the nurse put the needle in my butt which really hurt and then he started to fill my butt with the medication. I was crying like a little girl when he pulled the needle out. I saw a small blood trail running down my right hip which he wiped off and put a bandiad on the spot. He told my boyfriend you might want to massage her hip a few minutes to work the medicine into her muuscle. It hurt at first, but then it began to feel better. It has been 7 hours and my butt is still really sore. I called my boyfriend and he is coming over to night to give me another butt massage. I always regarded the procedure as merely exchanging a sore throat for a sore bottom. He said he would be back in the morning to check on me. Sure enough he came over this morning and I was limping around trying ot make some coffee for us. I notice a long blood trail running down my butt. He wipes it off and put a bandiad on the spot and then an ice pack. My butt is still sore for that shot. that has to be the worst shot you can get in your butt. Everyone knew in the wiating room I got a shot im my ass because I was holding it as I limped out. I don't know one person who would go along with any doctor who wanted to give them a penicillin shot instead of trying pills first; Especially if they were already back home? In 30 years, I haven't known any doctor to even offer a shot other then in an ER. And most people I know would choose the pills before resorting to any shot. It is true that a shot may work a day or two faster then pills, but the pain of the shot can also add to ones sickly feeling as well......I'm curious, is this different outside of New York maybe? I begin to tear up as he injected. he said I am sorry Iknow this does not feel good. He pulled out the needle and I could feel the blood trail running down my hip. He wiped off the blood and placed a bandaid on it. I asked him to rub both of my bare cheeks for a few moments. He helped me get my panties and scrubs back up. In young patients, tonsils can become swollen to a dangerous size, obstructing the airway. I have hospitalized teenagers with Strep with a trach tray at bedside for fear of blocking off the airway.
