They were as wide as harpoons. The nurse said any thinner and the stuff would block meaning she would need to repeat the injection. Actually the needles darted into my buttocks was not the worst part. The pain began when she pushed the plungers and the penicillin was shot into my glutes muscles. That did burn, felt like my rear was on fire. After the first jab I pulled up my panties and pants thinking it was all over. But then the nurse said Honey, you must have a second dose in the other side! As mentioned above, apparently the total volume is too much for one injection so they divide it into two halves of a few cc each. My bottom is still sore and stiff two days later.
