 Because it makes kids frightened of them, doctors are less likely to give injections today.
They usually are given in the thigh until the toddler can walk, because until then, the thigh is a larger muscle than the glute. Once they start walking, the glute develops.
I'm older and only recall getting shots in the butt until I was ?9, and then in the arm.

The other thing middle school kids in the '90s and beyond wouldn't be familiar with are rectal temps.
