I grew up in ussr in 70s. All kids got the shots at school. I remember in each academic year we had at least 1, sometimes 2 or 3 shots. Almost all of them were given in the buts except a few jabs such as smallpox and Mantu reaction. I can't be sure all of the shots were vaccinations. I think some of them were gammaglobulin which is not a vaccine technically speaking. I hated those days when when we were called to the school medical office where a school nurse gave us shots. The shots did hurt and there was no privacy at all during the procedure.
