 Recently I went through a period where my blood iron was low my body temperature would often be below the usual 98.6F reading.

In the few times my doctor sent the visiting nurses to follow-up on me after my labs came back, two things occurred. First I had my temperature taken. Because I'd shown a number of low readings, the nurses were instructed to obtain rectal measurements for accuracy. The shots were usually iron shots and sometimes a B-12 too.

What sticks out 9no pun intended) was the quickness of the injections. Once I was swabbed w/ alcohol, I'd get an 18g 2" needle(it was going into my muscle) in my upper butt side area, and the injection of the needle as sharp as it was and done quickly, was not painful, just a "pinch'. But later the soreness set in.
