If they weigh between 100-130 pounds I will almost always suggest their get it in their butt. I tell them there is more muscle mass in their butt and it will hurt less and 99% of the time they opt to get it in their bottom. I usually have them lie flat on their stomach. Most of them will bare their entire bottom. If it is penicillin or rocephin I usally give them a couple of firm smacks to so they do not feel the big needle go into their butt cheek and the others I just massage a few times and then quickly stick. I have a lot of girls come back each year for their flu shots in their butt because they say they never feel me give the shot and donot get the soreness afterwards. [ Post a Reply to This Message ]
