The premise of your argument collapses on its own contradictions. Open Platform was not created to supplement CLRG; it was created to escape it. Facilitating OP dancers’ participation in CLRG events is not opportunity, it is regression. It invites OP dancers into a system with a documented history of judging bias, competitive manipulation, and disciplinary findings that directly contradict the values OP was founded to protect. You do not model a better way, inside a structure that controls the rules, appoints the judges, and has repeatedly protected its own interests.

Assimilation is not a neutral outcome; it is the explicit risk. History shows that when smaller organisations co-mingle with dominant ones, the dominant culture prevails. Open Platform loses its identity, standards, and autonomy long before it influences anything. CLRG does not need reform minded participants; it needs entries, fees, and legitimacy as its numbers decline. That is not partnership, it is extraction and desperation.

If you are surrounded by CLRG and so dissatisfied with the amount of OP schools and feis’ in your area and are jumping at the bit to compete under CLRG rules, CLRG judges, and CLRG governance, the honest solution is simple: join CLRG. Open Platform is a choice. Remaining while actively pushing OP dancers back into CLRG spaces undermines the very reason OP exists. If you are unhappy, then go.

This does not create healthy opportunities. Most dancers chose OP precisely to avoid CLRG’s win at all costs culture, politicised judging, and hostile competitive environment. Following CLRG back into its ecosystem does not broaden horizons, it erodes standards and invites the very behaviours OP rejected.

Referring to CLRG as counterparts like they are allies, is naïve at best and disingenuous at worst. CLRG has consistently positioned itself as the elite authority while dismissing all others as inferior. Expecting fair competition under CLRG-appointed judges, some publicly linked to proven misconduct, is not idealism; it is will full ignorance.

Finally, the appeal to conversation is irrelevant. This is not a social exercise. Competitive dancing is governed by structures, incentives, and enforcement not casual exposure or personal rapport. No amount of presence changes a system designed to reward conformity. In other words, go make friends but it will not get you anywhere.

Saying we are talkers not doers, is both rude and false. OP dancers are doing, by building independent competitions, maintaining ethical standards, and succeeding without corruption, publicity scandals, or toxic behaviour. Doing it quietly. Doing it cleanly. Doing it without CLRG.

That is not inactivity. That is integrity.
