The first one I saw was on the side of the road at about 2:00 am on US 84 and I did not realise at the time that it was the first of the Mustang/Camaro type of pursuit vehicles. Those links to the Javelin pages mention how they came about and these surely are one of the most unique cars of our time. Although they had some reliability issues at first, If I was looking for an Alabama car, that would be the one! As far as the looks, they were imposing with the lettering across the rear and that single blue beacon.

........but they were quick. Even mechanics at the dealership weren't given the exact interna; specs on these police 401 4V motors. They had specially designed "L" shaped heads and specially designed pistons, cranks,, cams, etc, completely different from the stock 401's! And they showed it.
