While this started out as just a two part story, it ended up being a bit more ambitious all on its own. While working on the second half and developing the characters a bit more in my head, they refused to settle for a short 'two shot' story where two cuties get together and have...er ummm....'fun'. Hehehe! But I don't have plans to stretch this one out for 50 more chapters or anything close to it. Promise. It's still a mini-series. But it's going to reach out a few more chapters than I originally thought it would. What can I say? I fell in love with them both. :P
This series, technically, exists outside of the "GFD" universe and steps into the 'real world'. (Which...isn't really 'real', because it's still fiction. Within fiction. Within fiction! ::Inception Noise:: Bwaaaawwwww!)
"GFD: Fanboys" takes place in a world where the first "Gone From Daylight" MOVIE has been released to theaters the previous Summer, and has become one of the biggest blockbuster movies ever made! (WHAT? I can dream, can't I???) The main character, Kevin, is a huge fan of the books and the movie, and is now picking up the new merchandising perks of the sequel as they come in to his favorite neighborhood comic book store. Enter 'Parker', a beautiful stranger with a common interest and passion in Kevin's number one past time, and MAY also be gay as well. Therein lies our story! :)
This actually started off as just a fun way to answer the question of 'what if?' in a story form. On the 'Vampire Warehouse' message board, there had been discussions about casting choices in the past, and once this idea settled into my head, I started playing around with ideas for "GFD" t-shirts, video games, action figures, etc. And I thought it would be an awesome idea to make a story about the fans of the story. Imagine Magazine had a cover with bound books as a cover with "GFD" titles, another reader had created his own bound hardback book of "GFD", and Erick was currently writing a 'movie based' story called "Unscripted" for the "GFD: Blood Bank" site (Thus the actors, Julian Clarke and Adam Turner in the "Fanboys" story)...so everything was already in place for a story like this to happen. Two boys who found a true love and passion for the same thing...and fall in love because of it? How awesome would THAT be?
This series was initially written to hopefully bring the people who love "GFD" together with people who just refuse the whole 'vampire' story idea altogether and don't want to read it. Hehehe, until it's the LAST thing on the site they haven't read yet...and then it ends up being their favorite story ever! (It's the number ONE story on the entire site, you know? By a LANDSLIDE! Just saying. But, you know...I can wait. :P) "Fanboys" is just a sweet, normal, high school, love story that takes place over the Summer in a comic book store. I hope it connects and makes people smile.
Chapters 2 and 3 were meant to introduce the readers to love interest, Parker, and set things in motion between the two. Initiating a few sparks and giggly moments here and there, and since the movie contains a great deal of gay content...it cuts down on the whole 'is he or isn't he?' angst part of the story. It's always fun to write a story where both boys are gay and comfortable with it every now and then. I'll be sure to have fun with a bit of fan service in this series. And after reaching my own 'geek-gasm' over the new "Avengers" trailer and "Star Wars" news? Expect "Fanboys 4" to fall to some OBVIOUS influences! Hehehe! Maybe I can bring you guys in to see what it feels like to be a psycho 'fanboy' yourselves. Psh! Get excited, people! Hehehe! I do! Posers! :P
