Rachedith must take a moment to think carefully before she speaks next. "I no longer hate them as I was taught." Mentally, she cannot resist adding, especially if they are much larger and more experienced than I am, and the thought is readable on her face. "I never heard a reason, just that they were blemishes on the race or some diamen like that. And once I believed it, but I have since seen that it is not so. Even now, however, my old attitude resurfaces in my words at the worst times. I would die for my Adi, striped or no, yet I find myself insulting her because of it. And as you have heard, I only punish my daughter for fear that her talk will get her into even greater trouble. But, n, I cannot say I hate all stripeds, nor can I tell you exactly why that sad... tradition, if you will, continues."
