I agree that I wouldn't want them to work together if they were to separate, and I don't think Castle would put himself and Beckett through that (I would hope not, anyway). I hope there isn't a separation at all, and if there is, I hope it's very short! But I think ultimately Kate will choose to continue to live and work in NYC, even if she decides to give the new job a shot for a while.
The new job is attractive to her now, but ultimately I don't think Beckett is cut out for all the secrecy, subterfuge and political manipulations of the kind of work that Stack does. She's a straight arrow, so I personally don't think it would suit her. I think she also loves being close to her friends and family (especially now that she's a serious relationship), and a job with the AG's office would probably involve lots of travel and time away from them.
I do think there might be a big confrontation (not necessarily a bad thing - I think they need to learn to communicate better, and sometimes confrontation can be healthy and a big step to towards more openness and a stronger relationship). I guess we'll see what happens, but I think there just might be a cliffhanger in store for us - I just hope it's a reasonably 'small' one and that the finale ends with some hope and something to be positive about. I wouldn't mind a proposal, but I actually would prefer if they waited until Season 6 for that.
