I've read some things that suggest there might be something surprising and unexpected out of left field (and bigger than the job offer) at the end of the finale, that will create the cliffhanger for the summer.

Whatever happens, Monday night is bound to be interesting!

I don't think she lied to him. I wouldn't say it that way. I think she was finding the job more interesting than she wanted to. She was trying to believe that it was nothing. And if she was going to dismiss it as nothing then telling Castle would only worry him needlessly. Also if there is something she has to think through she doesn't voice it until she's come to her conclusions and can talk about it.
