I scored 60 Miss America pageants (from 1959-2018), and in my estimation, 13 of the 60 eventual winners were the best in Evening Gown of their respective Top 10s: (1966/KS) Deborah Bryant, (1969/IL) Judith Ford, (1975/TX) Shirley Cothran, (1982/AR) Elizabeth Ward, (1983/CA) Debra Maffett, (1992/HI) Carolyn Sapp, (1994/SC) Kimberly Aiken, (1997/KS) Tara Dawn Holland, (1999/VA) Nicole Johnson, (2000/KY) Heather French, (2005/AL) Deidre Downs, (2007/OK) Lauren Nelson, and (2008/MI) Kirsten Haglund. It seems so hard to score the old pageants from the 50's & early 60's because the tapes are in b/w and they were all in those pouty white ball gowns with gloves. They all looked great, but very similar. I noticed the gown trend changed with Jane Jayroe (I liked her dress) and I also really liked Debra Barnes back then. (NT)No name
