Happy for once to be plugging someone else's worthy book! I think a lot of folks here would be interested the new memoir from Jane Little Botkin, the original “Guyrex Girl” (if you know, you know), who worked with the legendary pageant coaches a few years before they repeatedly conquered the Miss USA system. “The Pink Dress” centers on her attempts to become Miss Texas, but it’s also a more relatable tale finding one’s way as a young woman in the 1970s.

The Pink Dress: A Memoir of a Reluctant Beauty Queen .

Simple question. The way this is written implies there are books that aren’t worth reading. Just asking which ones? (NT)No name

I may read it just because I'm a pageant buff, but in fairness, tell-alls are the most fun when the readers were alive/old enough to appreciate the original event. A tell-all from the 80s will likely draw very few people. A tell-all from 2010, however, is a different story. All this to say, ladies, if you have a tell-all percolating in your head, do it soon after your reign. Don't wait decades until it's no longer relevant to contemporary pageantry (NT)No name
