If she stepped back into MAO world, she would receive some much love and support. She has been missed. I think she could inspire folks on many levels. (NT)No name

She was very candid and very detailed in this interview leaving little to the imagination. I applaud her for telling her story and for her sobriety. (NT)No name

I was re-watching old episodes of Unsolved Mysteries and was thrown for a loop when I saw Susan on one (she was being interviewed for a segment involving the murder of her neighbor). I hadn't thought about her in a long time and it made me realize how removed she was from Miss America. It's heartbreaking to hear about her struggles but I am happy she seems to be doing well now, and am glad she told her story. I'm sure it wasn't easy. (NT)No name

I hope that Susan has found peace and healing. Unlike other Miss Americas, she never had a career goal. Her whole life was winning Miss America, and it was an end in and of itself, and not a means to an end. (NT)No name

In addition to her developmentally disabled sister that died several years ago, Susan has lost both of her older brothers. Earl Akin Jr. died at 55 in 2016, and her brother Alan died last year at 59. He was 11 months older than Susan. So very sad. (NT)No name
