Subject: The first year of teen in 2005, the 1st RU was 13 and a few year later, 2 winners were 15 (Caitlin Brunell and Jeanette Morelan). Most 13 and 14 year olds entered for the experience and the scholarship money (when it was actually paid!). The max age at that time was 17 and entering your senior year of high school. It worked just fine. IMO 18 is too old for teen, many are already in college. But, then again, an 18 year old competing against a 24/25 year old college grad student seems a little unfair. There will always be age imbalance. It would be good to pick the parameters and stick with it.
