Subject Author Date There are several reasons that come to mind. One is the number of contestants; it would be unnecessary to rank them. Instead, it would make more sense to just rank them by numbers. In the more populous states that may or may not be necessary. I think TX used to show the rankings as they had more competitors. The first cut is determined by who gets put in the most top 15s over all areas of competition. On final night yiu do it the same way but you only pick 5. Then when the five is chosen….
