Subject: I am with you. Have been involved since the late 80's and officially cut off my involvement during the Haskell era and have sat back and watched the program repeatedly shoot itself in the foot many times over. I loved my time with the program, but at this point, I have resigned myself that Miss America will likely go the way of Sears, Kodak and Polaroid; iconic American Brands that no longer exist. Unfortunately, MAO just seems to align with narcissistic attention seekers, who use the program as a vehicle for their personal agenda, with no regard for making the program world class for the women going through it. I cherish my memories, but no longer cling to any hope the program will put itself back on the right track. Gretchen Carlson- was unemployable so used the MAO to push her Me Too agenda, sell books, and feed her thirstiness for attention and adulation after being fired from Fox. Vegina- Horrible human. In your post above you also forgot to mention Sam Haskell using the Pageant to promote his book "Promises I Made My Mother" and forcing all of the state pageants to sell it "as a fund-raiser" for their programs. She forgot about that amazing runway and how ecstatic she was walking down it with the scepter in her hand. She forgot about how amazing the closing number was the year she gave up her crown, playing her violin as a prelude to the rest of the contestants ALL being seen in their evening gowns in the closing number to "One Moment in Time." She had the means to make Miss America a great production again . . .but instead, changed everything that didn't need to be changed. She was so adamant about it no longer being a "pageant" that in the process she erased the entertainment value. Having experienced first-hand the excitement of being a part of not one, but two amazing productions, she should have known better.
