Subject: From the sounds of things, Jordan just made an assumption that she could clean her garment - because cleaning was allowed. The problem was she didn't remember the rule and she didn't consider that the reason garments can't be removed is because candidates are not allowed to materially alter their wardrobe between prelims and finals - that could result in competitive advantage. This was not Jordan's intention, but the optics of the situation in light of the rules were pretty cut and dry. Super sad situation, but she certainly shouldn't be canceled for it. I can't wait to see her compete.

In reply to: 's message, "Breaking the rules is not always the same thing as cheating. There are grey areas. For example (because it's the winter Olympics and I'm obsessed), in short-track speed skating, if a skater slips and bumps into another skater, knocking them off their line, the slipping skater is disqualified, even though the slip was unintentional and gave them no competitive advantage. In the case of Jordan, cleaning a competition garment is allowed - things get dirty during prelims and in the dressing room. But, candidates have to get approval to take wardrobe pieces out of the dressing room after they've been checked in - or they have to work with the hostesses to address the issue." on Tue February 15, 2022 10:18:33
