Kathy, did you buy the 6 oz Cara enema bulb in store?

When I worked part time in local drug store I saw a mom looking enemas .
I offered to help her. I also was working part time as a home visiting nurse.

She had her boy with her. I think he was 9 or so.
I suggested she buy the 6 oz Cara syringe to use for giving him an enema. Then later buy a 8 oz bulb when he is older or a bag.
But, was best to consult with her doctor first (we were told to tell customers to always consult with doctor).

She told never given one before. I removed the Cara 6oz bulb from the box. Told her how to prepare him, where giving it, the solution (mild warm soapy water enema), giving it and cleaning afterwards. Clean it before and after each use. Let air dry few days. If he may resist getting an enema may be best to have another mom assist her.

I told her to let me know if needs any help…since I have given many enemas.

While talking to her I was squeezing the bulb in and out. Making that sound.
He had a “oh no” look on his face when he saw the enema bulb in my hand being squeezed in and out.
I asked if he ever got one. She told me not long ago her mother in law gave him a bulb enema. Since she didn’t know how.

But her MIL has moved away.

She got the syringe, a bar of ivory soap. This was used to make a soapy enema solution. And a jar of Vaseline.

Few days later saw her in the store again. She told me she gave him an enema .
Thanked me. Told he took it well. Didn’t fight getting an enema.
