You have no idea of how much effort it took for Taran�s jaw not to drop during the ensuing speech. How could Eques speak so fast? Talk about not having a father being physically impossible � moving your lips that fast had to be that as well! Mind you, it did look like a rather highly-practised skill, if you catch my drift. Taran nodded when Eques asked him about his brother, but there was no chance he would get a word in edgeways. The best way to handle this was probably to wait and make sure Eques had finished talking before he attempted to reply.

�Why don�t you try being a little�� The boy struggled for the appropriate word. �Slower. Maybe that way you�ll be less tired � and other people can get words in.�

He�s mad�he has to be mad�maybe he needs a dragon to keep him sane. I hope he gets a nice steady one. That way it�ll keep him under control. He was sure that Atiyana or even Arden would be able to understand what this strange guy was talking about. As for Taran? Fat chance.
