Brath, it's only a little further. See, there are the buckets.
Where? asked the brown, hatching goo still clinging to his shoulders. He swiveled his head around, looking for the buckets his Impressed had mentioned.
Right here! Davan- no, D'van, plunked a brown-striped bucket in front of his new lifemate.
The brown stuck his head in, grabbed a mouthful of meat, and tried to swallow it whole.
No, no! Chew it first, silly!
How do you chew??
Like this, um, Mrush?
The delicate green fire lizard's head rose out of her Impressed arms, and chirped sleepily.
"I need you to demonstrate how to chew for our young friend," D'van told his green fire lizard, fishing a small chunk of meat out of Brath's bucket.
Mrush chirped, giving D'van the distinct impression that she was saying," Oh, that."
The green took the proffered morsel, and chewed rapidly.
Like that, only slower.
This? Brath moved his jaws up and down, grinding the meat between his teeth.
"Exactly!" he assured, not realizing he spoke out loud.
Brath swallowed his meat, and took another mouthful.
