Am I the reason you breathe�

X�thrall froze at the slight touch of a hand on his shoulder. Althoguh he didn�t look up, he immediately knew who it was by voice; Elaini, his crush back in Weyrling Lessons. Of course, she�d moved on�he heard she�d even had twins about six months ago!�and so had he, but that�s how he remembered her.

�L��Laini?� he asked quietly.

He struggled onto his knees next to her, and realized she was crying, too. What could be her cause of grief, he wondered, wiping his eyes on his sleeve.

�I� I�m just upset.� He said, thinking about G�rein. Elaini was now to him like the little sister he�d never had (and technically never wanted), and it would be nice to talk to someone about it. �You� you remember my weyrmate, G�rein?� he paused, swallowed, then continued. �I� met up with his former weyrmate, S�peer, today, and when I left��

He trailed off, hoping she�d get the picture.

�Why�re you crying?�

Or am I the reason you cry?
