Not the same.
My husband spanks me over his lap, with hand. Firm, but nothing extreme. He spanks first my thighs and then my ass.
He also spanks me in front of their parents and even in front of my parents. It can be considered as a therapy but rather as a family event.

My wife would agree with you, there's nothing like being spanked to tears as a good hard cry releases so many emotions/stress/guilt. You ask your hubby for a spanking?
My wife doesn't ask out right but I can tell when she's overloaded and anxious . If I give her a warning, she will tell me she's okay or she will start pouting, teary eyed, blushing, "You aren't going to SPANK me are you!?"
We both know she wants to be spanked. But, like you, she has some issues from her spankings growing up (don't we all?) and for her spankings are "no choice" punishments.
