Of course you should confess, although presumably your mom knows you assisted your little sister in breaking house rules since she saw you come in together. But maybe the lesson she wants to convey is don't trust irresponsible, mean selfish big sister!

How do real parents actually treat curfew these days? All the tough curfew accounts I read have indicia of coming out of ancient pre-cell phone times when I was raising teenagers. These days can't a quick call mollify a parent so long as it is not abused?

I think you need to tell your mom exactly what happened. It was not your sister's fault. She tried to get you to leave the party, but you were not ready to leave. Was it your responsibility to get her home on time? Did you know she would be in big trouble?

If you are old enough to make your own decisions, your mom can explain to you that your sister has a midnight curfew, and you can assure her it won't happen again. Do you think she would give you a spanking at your age?
