I guess my MIL did the right thing but it's weird to admit that. That's how she dealt with certain behavior and she has always treated me like a real daughter so it's understandable why she would treat me like a real daughter when she felt I needed correcting or disciplining.

I don't know if being disciplined growing up would have been better, don't really understand the question. I replied to someone else that I have been spanked after we got married for r/l reasons and I can't argue with them. I offered to write more about that if it was wanted and I had time to write.
No living with her after we married we both got it one night as I wrote and yes after that time as well.
It was very eye opening when you think your all grown up and married and next thing you know your getting spanked.
Looking back I definitely realize how young you still are in your early 20's and I know how cantankerous I could be.
I guess I should admit that I still needed guidance then and I won't argue that I'm a work in progress (Like most of us)
so what I've rec'd from my hubby has usually, if not always, had positive outcomes. I think I answered your questions?
