Admittedly I was being playful when I made fun of Jacob but it was cruel of me and if he had teased me after seeing me in the same shoes I would have had it coming. But he felt no need to rub it in. The apology helps some. He realizes that he really screwed up by coming up the stairs. He knew that I was getting punished and that was embarrassing enough. I guess in your case that was karma.
