 I did not realize you were using this story to condemn ALL spanking. It is a good example of the false dilemma fallacy.

I was sympathetic to what I believed was a nightmare which has haunted you for years. So sorry.

It was nightmarish in the moment and for a couple days afterward. That being said, I am not condemning all spanking by using this story. My negative stance on kid spanking developed separately, years later. But I notice you dodged my question and focused on that stance I have, which I only brought up to point out the irony.

Why exactly did this spanking cross the line? What was so bad about it in comparison to the very painful but private punishment my older cousins experienced?
