Miss Thea is always the source of excellent advice. Captain Shelby is probably "always right." I use scare quotes to indicate that she thinks the captain must pretend to be always right, whether she or he really is, lest her authority be undermined. So, I suggest that you, E.S., don't cite Miss Thea or me or anyone as an expert on a subject you are debating with the Captain.
I do suggest you take Captain S's advice on your conduct and examine it closely. See if there are areas on which you agree. Then really try to improve in those areas. As parenting books always advise "Choose your battles!"
What they mean is give in on disagreements that are not all that important. Fight or resist firmly on what is really important to you. For example, if restraints terrify you, hang tough on their absence. Keep them a hard limit, one that ends the relationship if ignored.
If things really deteriorate, you can bail. Be prepared for this happening. Students change roomies all the time even though universities and colleges resist. Know how your phone works for emergencies.
But, use the emergency option ONLY if your life is in danger, not in other lesser cases such as your bottom is hurting more than you wanted for your first real punishment spanking. I guarantee that when the option of stopping a spanking is removed, you are going to have a totally different attitude toward how important it is to avoid spankings.
I do agree with Miss Thea, earn your first sooner rather than later! Like the Navy captains, only for real; she seems to be always right about you!
