So what's that like? Is it as bad as I've read it is?

I never experienced it. On a number of occasions my mother said she should do this to me or my brother, but always in a jocular tone. It wasn't until I was grown up and started to explore my fetish that I realized that this is an actual practice. Hopefully I'll find someone who won't hesitate to do this as needed to keep me in line.

You should avoid it. The chemicals in even Ivory, the 99 and 44/100 pure soap are really bad for you. Forcing it on children is disgusting and, imho, ought to be regarded as seriously abusive. Others on spanko boards say that soaping against the will of the recipient is safe and a legit punishment for speaking obscene words, etc. I have not read of any injuries but I haven't tried to find evidence very hard. So, my advice would be skip this.

I got my mouth soaped once. That was enough for me. I was in trouble and I let a four letter word slip out when mom was fussing at me. She walked me to the bathroom and made me stand by the sink. She took a wash cloth and got it wet then rubbed some Dove soap on it. Then she made me open my mouth and stick out my tongue. She rubbed the soapy wash cloth across my tongue a few times. The taste was awful. To make matters worse, She made me pull my pants and underwear down picked up a brush, made me bend over with my hands on the toilet seat and blistered my bare behind. That was the first and last time I got my mouth washed out with soap. My butt was sore for a few hours but it took days to get the bad taste out of my mouth.

The same happened to my sister a couple of times. The last when she was fifteen. She had been grounded for something and muttered "bitch" under her breath. Mom grabbed her and dragged her to the bathroom and gave her the exact treatment she had me.

You and your sister have my sympathy for the soapings you had to "swallow" and then try to cope with the howling that bare bottom spankings always include. As you point out, the effects of a soaping can last for days.

To me spanking is fairer and infinitely safer than the ingestion of whatever may have been on a bar of soap. Mouth-soaping-only bars are a bit safer but not much since they get handled by several persons each time they are used.

I do find vulgar language offensive and try to avoid it, especially here. My mother used to punctuate bad words and other dramatic words with a spank for each letter.

My mother frequently washed our mouths out. She considered it a mild punishment, as did I, compared to her spankings. I don't know of a single child who has been poisoned or injured by soaping. I used it a couple of times and have never understood the controversy except by those who are against all punishment.

I used soap to wash dirty words out of mouths. Kids pick up all kinds of inappropriate words. Soap is a good safe way to teach them not to use these words. From what I hear, parents are not using enough soap these days!
