On a number of occasions my mother said she should do this to me or my brother, but always in a jocular tone. It wasn't until I was grown up and started to explore my fetish that I realized that this is an actual practice. The chemicals in even Ivory, the 99 and 44/100 pure soap are really bad for you. Forcing it on children is disgusting and, imho, ought to be regarded as seriously abusive. Others on spanko boards say that soaping against the will of the recipient is safe and a legit punishment for speaking obscene words, etc. I have not read of any injuries but I haven't tried to find evidence very hard.
