Alred, what things are you referring to that are particularly cruel? It is Shelby's house after all and what she hangs on the walls are her business and shouldn't be fucked with.
Being asked to go to her own apartment I don't find cruel. She does have her own apartment and it sounds like Shelby worked very hard and spent a lot of money to make sure Emmie Sue has a comfortable, livable place to live. The upstairs is Shelby's domicile and she has the right to privacy. She was working on something business related and didn't wished to be disturbed. No different than when I'm grading papers I need to concentrate and need my privacy. If my wife Kailey was working on something business related and I kept bothering her I would surely find myself over her knees with a blistered butt.
