I think people who hang out on spanking sites and share anecdotes are not the type to bring charges. And writers into spanking like happy endings, pun intended. Those who have gone for help or sought legal compensation are probably not eager to talk to others about it, especially on forums where spanking is enjoyed.

I love fiction that depicts real disciplinary spanking, where the culprit has really earned their punishment. They are shocked to receive it, they hate getting it, and they are humbled by it. The great thing about fiction is that nobody actually gets hurt. Even actors who took painful spankings in service of their art did so with consent, and that's exciting. Maybe they even liked it more than they wanted to admit.

Real life is another thing. People do get hurt. I experienced and saw it growing up. Sure, we accepted it. No one I knew went to the police or got a lawyer. We survived. Some of us were spankos who had that mountain of confusion to deal with on top of it. Though less prevalent today, apparently, it still happens. And, of course, it's one of the more common fetishes, so there is a never-ending stream of fiction presented as fact.
