This thread resonates so deeply with me. I was spanked very often growing up, very unpredictably and often for reasons that were not at all obvious to me. My mom spanked me way more often because she was my primary caregiver and dealt with everyday issues, and usually it would just be 5-10 spanks with the hand over the clothes—enough to hurt but define the whole day, unless I had done something like complain about food (this was a cardinal sin in my household) in which case she would spank quite severely. But my dad would spank way more intensely and it was way more of just an unstructured rage beating when he would do it, and with him, there really didn’t seem to be any correlation with my behavior and the intensity of punishment; in retrospect I suspect he was very depressed and having an annoying kid was just overwhelming to him so physical violence was his coping mechanism.

But eroticizing pain was my coping mechanism. I became aroused from the pain before I understood what arousal was, and my earliest experiences masturbating were after spankings. It became a way to soothe the pain and distract my attention from it, and it eventually became part of my ritual after every one. As far as I know they never knew; I was always sent to my room after a spanking so at least I had privacy. Decades later nothing arouses me more than spanking fantasies or watching spanking videos.
