It seemed to me that all spankings were about the same depending on whether we were younger children or adolescents. When we got a spanking as teens, it was always for something major, so there were no easier ones. It was also true that when in the position of being helpless, and not knowing when it was going to end, pain was experienced as even worse than it would be under other circumstances. Kids do tend to make more of a fuss no matter how severe the punishment actually is.

Mom's spankings at a younger age were brightly stinging hot, and seemed very bad at the time. In the house, it sounded like someone was being murdered. But it was really not that bad, and just a bottom that was warm and red for a little while. Spankings as a teen were from my father, and it felt like being on fire. What you heard was someone being taught their lesson the hard way, and no doubt that they were learning. After a session with the spanking stick, my behind continued to burn afterward, sitting was uncomfortable the next day, and there were visible marks for about a week.

Ross, my experience was very similar. Of course, mom's cooking spoon also hurt a lot, but there was always a lot of show involved. When I switched to my father's cane when I was 10, there was no need for a show. I would say: level 5! The bawling and begging was really honest, and I did everything I could to avoid having to go through this experience again until... well, until the memory slowly faded and the rascal in me gradually reasserted himself. And then the cycle started all over again...
