I now think that even though under laboratory conditions where he could rule out the psychological effects of the comfort of a pair of full-cut women's panties and just measure the physical effects of e.g. a cane stroke on a bare bottom versus the effects of a similar force cane stroke on a bottom "protected" by a thin layer of cotton from say a pair of full-cut Fruit of the Loom's, we would find them to be almost identical. Loosely speaking, the fast moving cane shaft end and tip would just burn through the cotton panties.

But spankings do not occur in the lab and clearly many people think that they would help. And, in a case like this, thinking it to be true tends to make it true in "reality."

So I agree with Jan R. and now would argue that for maximum effect and sting, moms should spank bare bottom. Getting it bare bottom was always my mother's nuclear option. She was very sure that bare bottom made a hugh difference!
