Fewer temptations that are potentially distracting. Your parents can continue to guide and help you as needed, and help bring you back in line if you lose school as a priority. I don't think "appropriate or not" or "okay vs. not okay" is really applicable in a general sense. What may work for some may not work well for others. If a college daughter or any adult over 18 is physically corrected, then it must be a joint conclusion it's the best thing for that person at that time. What is not okay is to pigeon-hole a college aged daughter into circumstances where she has no choice or is indirectly coerced into accepting it. The emphasis must always be on teaching self-discipline first. Just my opinion of course. Opinions will vary on this. Just like the use of spanking itself at any age.
