Most likely there are situations where professors deal privately with students in the smaller more religious colleges but certainly not as a school policy. Parents may ask instructors to report back to them as needed if their kid is not doing the work or even just between professor and student. In the broader sense it seems ridiculous but truth is always stranger than fiction so it's possible some spanking does go on within limited and private contexts.
