Yes I forgot Marissa was top twelve. Love Alpha Gamma Delta & Hannah but I think she can come across as too pageanty sometimes.

The Miss UA and Miss AU competitions often go to a dark horse (or at least evade the expected results) because the front runners seem to psych themselves out. It’s like they want it too much, and it makes them shaky. Those who don’t expect to win can fly under the radar, give an authentic, no stakes interview and performance, and sometimes edge out the heavy hitters. Melissa will do fine as UA. She is a talented, solid performer and cute girl. I kind of get the vibe that pageants are a means to the career for her more than anything else. I don’t blame her for that. She’s not really on brand as the typical Miss AL winner, but I have no doubt she will continue to make the cut as long as she competes, and deservedly so.

Case in point—the heat Lindsay Gaines Fincher totally flubbed her Miss UA performance and maybe didn’t even place? Can’t remember. She was so off that night, but came back and won the following year.
