In a nutshell, children don't think logically, especially boys. They don't care if they continually lose the bedtime battle, and have been spanked many times before about it. If it's been awhile since their last spanking, then they push the envelope more, get more brave (or should we say unwise) and end up pushing their luck too far finding themselves over Mommy's lap again.

Also, they will continually want to raise that bedtime, especially if they think it is too early. If their bedtime is still 8:30pm, but have friends' bedtimes at 9pm, you will hear about "how unfair it is!" or 'such-and-such' friends bedtimes are 'this'"!!" They will continually try to argue with you about making it later. I only let them go so far. If they don't stop, then you need to remind them again that this is their bedtime and arguing (and whining) will not help. Then it's time to hit that reset button again with another bare-bottomed spanking over Mommy's knee.
