One afternoon when I was 9, I entered the house from school through the garage door entry and heard a conversation coming from the kitchen. I recalled my mom was hosting the Women's Council meeting from our church that day.

To my great embarrrassment, mom was describing a spanking she had given me two days earlier in full detail - bare bottom, hairbrush, over the lap, etc. I was mortifie!

Unfortunately for me, there was no way to access the house without going through the kitchen first. So I walked in, mom called me over for a hug and I envisioned all the other women thinking about my punishment. I politely said hi with a few smiles looking back at me, grabbed a coke from the refigerator and headed to my room. The memory sticks with me nearly 60 years later.
