First let me say I agree with everything Mary and Cordelia shared on this subject.

Over-the-knee, bare bottom spankings are all about teaching a hard and painful lesson and an embarrassing one to boot. As I have repeatedly said, I dare you to show me the teenage boy or girl who wouldn't benefit from being taken over their mother's lap with his underpants pulled down for a good, sound bare bottom spanking.

Let me share my baring technique as it is different from most. When I would bare one my boy’s bottom for their spanking or when I spanked one of my nephews or nieces, it was/is a task I perform only with them positioned over my lap so as to maximize the embarrassment factor in my actually witnessing their bottom's transition from clothed to bare. I feel it is one of the most potent features: the embarrassment attached to the methodical, maternal baring of a backside.

I do lower their underpants/panties methodically. They can still expect to have his or her underpants or panties taken down for a session over my lap no matter how old or big he or she is. As I have said before, this is something I got from another spanking mom of 2 boys years ago and never forgot it, “a boy's underpants are the dividing line between the desperate retention of his delusions of autonomy and the harsh reality of his behavioral accountability.” Who better to take them down than his mom who most likely taught him to pull them up.
