Hi Rose,

For what its worth my son is older than Tyler, hes 14 and he prefers briefs. At least hes never mentioned trying anything different and I buy them all for him. My daughter wanted to try thongs because she is self conscious about lines (and I suspect trying to be a little grown up but she would die if I said that out loud.)
