I think if they don't have to cry hard, the spanking doesn't get through and is almost useless. Just a few smacks won't do anything.
Real loud screaming and crying should be heard and is important and cleanses the air and soul.
Also, you have to spank them until you spank the crap out of them. They need to get rid of all the snot.
Loud crying, buckets of tears and lots of snot are unmistakable signs that the spanking is about to work. As are the many shades of red on their shiny, apple-red and sometimes purplish bottoms, which show that they have been thoroughly and well spanked. There's nothing wrong if they sit uncomfortably for a while. A sore, splotchy bottom is a good reminder.
If we spank them until they scream at the top of their lungs, then of course they can bawl as much and as long as they want and need to. That's only logical and a matter of course.
