A 'solid spanking' indeed, and I think my son would agree with your summary of his spanking. He was pulling faces every time he sat down that evening. He did not like his mother's hairbrush one little bit, and she has certainly spanked him often enough with it.

Oh undoubtedly the hairbrush delivers a sounder spanking to the bare bottom than my slipper does, even though I was only using a wristy action when applying it to my son's already well spanked bottom.

I don't know about my daughter and the hairbrush warming her bottom. She is 17 and not spanked often now. But I suppose it is only fair that when she next bends over Dad's knee she should receive a similar spanking to that of her younger brother. What do you think?
