Happy birthday to James! 9 is such a cute age still. But I agree, those birthday parties are also still so noisy at that age, as well. But it's a good thing, boys running around (if they are outside), yelling, having fun and just celebrating in general. Which is what we want to see as that is what these parties are all about!

But it can also get easily get out of hand, as well. And why it's good to have the rules established and set down with the boys (and girls) in the beginning. And especially permission to spank if needed. Do you have authority to spank with all of the children if it becomes necessary? I really hope your son has a wonderful 9th birthday party and truly enjoys himself. But that everyone behaves themselves and no spankings are needed, as well.

Samantha, I am also a Mom (and now Grandma) that likes to use swats, as well. I sometimes like to give a good handful (or so) of sound swats as part of a spanking warning, much like I did with Walker and Justin at AJ's birthday party. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Fortunately in this instance, they worked, at least for Walker and Justin. But I have also used pre-spanking swats, as well. Like swatting to where I am going to spank.

Swats certainly have their place, but of course they don't replace a good, sound spanking over our knee when needed.

Please let us know how the party goes tomorrow with your son!
